Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that Chelsea star Eden Hazard nearly joined the Lilywhites prior to joining the Blues from Lille in 2012.
Redknapp, who managed Spurs from 2008 to 2012, revealed that the player nearly signed for Spurs. He said: “I went to France and met him in a hotel room, I was with him for three hours, that’s probably why he didn’t sign! I could have had him at Tottenham”.
The Belgium has gone on to establish himself as one of the finest players in World football and is currently a key member of Antonio Conte’s team. He has so far scored three goals this season from limited appearances.
Whether Hazard remains at Chelsea for the long-term remains to be seen as he has been linked with a big-money move to Spanish giants Real Madrid. However if he remains at Chelsea, he could go on to become a club legend.
