Tottenham star Harry Kane is confident that captaining England will not affect his performances after he was given the armband by Gareth Southgate for the Three Lions World Cup qualifier on Thursday against Slovenia.
Southgate has yet to appoint a permanent captain with the likes of Gary Cahill, Jordan Henderson and Joe Hart and Kane having had a chance to wear the armband on a temporary basis.
Former Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson recently suggested that giving Kane the captaincy may affect his form in front of goal. The 24 year old is currently one of the most lethal forwards in World football and has already scored 13 times this season.
Kane however has suggested that he does not feel that this will be the case and said, “Having an armband on your arm doesn’t make any difference to how you play and if you score goals or not.
“It makes me very proud. Growing up as a kid you dream about playing for your country and being captain as well. Walking out at Wembley will be an amazing thing for me, personally. I’ll just go out there and do my best for the team, try and score goals and win the match.”
