Manager admits interest in signing Tottenham man

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has confirmed that his club are interested in signing Kevin Wimmer from Tottenham this summer.

After failing to establish himself on a regular basis within the Spurs first team, Wimmer has indicated that he wishes to leave Spurs in order to gain more regular first team opportunities elsewhere.

Stoke will however have to compete with the likes of West Brom and Crystal Palace in the race to sign the 24-year old.

It is likely that the North London club will also be willing to listen to offers for the Austrian international especially having just signed Davinson Sanchez. According to reports, Stoke have made an offer of £15 million to Spurs for Wimmer which was rejected.

Hughes has now confirmed that his club are interested in the player, saying, “We have an interest there, but I think along with a number of other clubs apparently.

“As you would imagine, the guy’s a good player. We will have to see how that pans out and we will probably have a better idea after the weekend. We have made an inquiry, but as we stand, he’s a Tottenham player and they dictate what happens.”
