According to the Times Sports Reporter Gary Jacob, Tottenham have cooled interest in the pursuit of Lazio striker Keita Baldé Diao.

The future of the Senegalese international striker has been in limbo since the end of last season.

The Barcelona youth product has expressed his desire to leave Lazio and has already stopped training with the squad.

With a season left on his current, the Serie A outfit have no choice than to let go of the wantaway 22-year-old.

However, they aren’t keen on selling Keita to a direct rival in the Italian topflight, and have already turned down a bid from Juventus as they hold out for £28million for him.

Inter Milan and West Ham are also being linked with the versatile finisher who ended last season’s Serie A campaign with 16 strikes, but it’s said his preference remains Juve, with the latter having also seen a £29.5million bid rejected.

Keita’s choice might have triggered Tottenham into withdrawing their efforts on his pursuit, and the north Londoners will likely go after another striking target as manager Mauricio Pochettino hopes to secure a quality cover and competition for Harry Kane this transfer window.

Were he to be keen on a switch to the Premier League, though, Keita might have ended up proving to be a top addition to Spurs if signed.

Should Juve also give up on him in the end, maybe Tottenham might just return to make a sensational transfer deadline move for the young striker.
