According to TMW, Tottenham are keen on Genoa and Uruguayan international midfielder cum winger Diego Laxalt, and are ready to pip both Atalanta and Juventus to the signing of the 24-year-old who’s certain to switch clubs this summer.

It is said Spurs have plans to push their attempt for the services of the former Inter Milan man before the end of the week, as they wish to seal a 3rd summer signing soon.

Laxalt impressed last term for Genoa, scoring once and laying 4 assists in 36 Serie A games, and his performances and versatility have seen him also attract Liverpool, West Ham and Torino.

Primarily a winger, his well-rounded defending and attacking abilities, coupled with his great speed and strength have seen him take up wing-back and left-back roles with ease.

Laxalt is seen as the orthodox trequartista, being that he can play as a withdrawn forward or as an attacking midfielder, not pushing quite as far forward as the team’s furthest-forward attacker.

It’s a style of play that without a doubt interests Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, and the Uruguayan definitely would make a solid addition to his ranks.

Getting a deal over the line for Laxalt, however, would be a very hard task.
