Newcastle reportedly close to landing 7th summer signing in EPL-winning South American winger

Following weeks of heavy speculations, Newcastle are now said to be very close to completing a season-long loan deal for Chelsea winger Kenedy, reports The Times.

The 21-year-old Brazil youth international arrived Stamford Bridge 2 summers ago while Jose Mourinho was still at the dugout.

Kenedy spent last season on loan at Watford, but an injury unfortunately restricted him to just 1 game for the Hornets.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants the versatile South American to continue his progress through another loan, and it looks like that could be happening at the Saint James’ Park.

With transfer funds now hard to come by for Magpies boss Rafa Benitez, securing a player of Kenedy’s quality and importance is a much welcome boost and advantage.

The former Fluminense offers high-end cover and addition to every role on the left flank, with his strength and creativity enabling him to put in both impressive defending and attacking.

Newcastle have started their return to the topflight on the most disappointing of notes, suffering back-to-back defeats against Tottenham and Huddersfield Town.

As a result, Benitez has been left staring at another relegation scrap even before it fully begins, and is hoping to make late additions and eager to improve his squad in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Should Kenedy be eventually snapped up, he would become the Spaniard’s 7th signing of the window, and it would be greatly hoped he helps Newcastle retain their Premier League status at the end of the campaign.
