Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement with Estudiantes on a 5-year deal for Juan Foyth, as per Peter Coates of golazo argentino.
The 19-year-old centre-back was also being monitored by PSG, and the Ligue 1 giants appeared to lead the race earlier on after Spurs walked away from the negotiating table.
However, it’s believed manager Mauricio Pochettino played a huge role in convincing Foyth to ditch the French team for Spurs, while there are also reports from the French media that a PSG move broke down because of a battle between agents.
Having snapped up Davinson Sanchez from Ajax for £42million, it’s expected that Spurs will complete a move for the £10million-rated Foyth soon, potentially making him the club’s 2nd signing of the summer.
Foyth, like the Colombian is also able to play at right-back and is equally as comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Pochettino apparently wants to get his side ticking at the back in Europe having flopped in the last 2 seasons, and with enough defensive depth, he should be able to achieve just that.
Should a summer move be sealed for the Argentina youth international, the Argentine manager will surely be further well-boosted for quality rearguard options going forward.
