Southampton’s goalkeeper reportedly closing in on a deal with Tottenham

Southampton’s goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is reportedly near signing a deal with last season’s Premier League runner-up Tottenham Hotspur.

Sky Sports News are reporting that the 25-year-old Argentinian and the club from North London are close to clinching the deal.

Current Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and Gazzaniga had been working together in Southampton, and the Argentine feels that their partnership in London could be beneficial for both sides.

At the moment the Spurs have Hugo Lloris and Michael Vorm, and adding Gazzaniga would strengthen that part of the team, and make the competition for goalkeeper place better.

After 20 games for Gillingham, the Argentinian had arrived at St. Mary’s Stadium in 2012, and during the previous 5 years, he only played 22 matches for the Saints. During the past season, Gazzaniga had been on loan at Spanish side Rayo Vallecano.

Back in September 2015, he had signed a new four-year deal with the Southampton.
