According to the Mirror, Tottenham’s pursuit of Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon has met a brickwall as the Championship side have repelled their £25million offer.
The 17-year-old has been in fine form since breaking into the Craven Cottage starting XI last season, and he was rewarded with a spot in the Championship PFA Team of the Year as a result.
Despite just extending his Fulham stay until 2020, Spurs haven’t bulged in their efforts to land Sessegnon.
The Premier League aspirants claim he won’t be sold for any amount, but the North London giants would likely return with another bid as they want to pip the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United to the signature of the highly-rated full-back.
Sessegnon has often drawn comparisons with a young Gareth Bale, as he is also full of pace and dribbling skills like the ex-Spurs who started out in defence.
It’s believed the England youth international could also move permanently further upfront on the left flank in the coming years.
Tottenham want him as a long-term option that is able to provide Ben Davies competition and cover should Danny Rose leave.
Ryan Sessegnon looks like the real deal, and it won’t come as a surprise if he eclipses Luke Shaw’s £30million record as the most expensive English teenager. Could Tottenham make such mega move happen this summer?
