Chelsea reportedly to make £50million offer for 26-year-old

Virgil van Dijk could change his direction when he leaves Southampton. The biggest favorites for landing the Dutch defender were Liverpool for a long time, but it seems that the Reds have now gotten really tough competition.

The Mirror reports that Chelsea is about to offer £50 million for the 26-year-old centre-back.

The same media outlet states that Chelsea’s boss Antonio Conte will officially make this offer during the next week.

After the game with Burnley, the reigning champions made a judgment on which they need to strengthen the team in order to defend the title, and Virgil van Dijk is one of their first targets.

It will now be interesting to see the response from Anfield because van Dijk has been one of the biggest wishes of manager Jurgen Klopp.

Also, the Reds have a lot of troubles in the back line, and that has been particularly noticeable in the game against Watford, this Saturday.
