According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham’s scouts were in attendance on Wednesday’s night to watch Ricardo Pereira as Porto opened their league campaign with a 4-nil victory over Estoril.

The Portuguese right-back spent last season on loan at Nice, helping them to a 3rd place finish with his standout performances.

Spurs reportedly offered £13million for the signature of the 23-year-old back in June, but Porto are holding out for £25million.

Tottenham are on the lookout for a right-back who can challenge Kieran Trippier to a starting berth, and they believe Ricardo is a perfect candidate.

The versatile defender can also play at left-back, centre back and in the middle of the pitch on both flanks.

The Portuguese international created 28 chances, scored twice and assisted on 4 occasions in the Ligue 1 last season.

He is solid in tackling, dribbling, passing, holding on to the ball, and winning aerial duels.

If there is someone who can actually replace Kyle Walker like-for-like, it’s Ricardo Pereira, and he’s worth much more than £25million. Spurs wouldn’t go amiss landing him.
