Each and every day, many rumors are appearing regarding the status of the rebellious Southampton player Virgil van Dijk and there has been an update recently.
It seems that at this moment that that defender is not going to be sold to Liverpool despite his desire to leave the club.
According to Express, the management of the Saints will refuse the £60 million offer from Anfield and send the 26-year-old centre-back on the stands.
“We do not want to sell Virgil to Liverpool and will happily let him sit in the stands all season if we have to” stated the source from the club.
It seems that the Southampton officials do not want to look weak in the eyes of their fans and they do not want to show that one player no matter his importance and value is greater than the club itself.
It is still unclear whether is this a wise move by the club from St. Mary’s. van Dijk has become one of the most hated players by the fans and having an unhappy player could lower the morale and disrupt the situation among other players.
