Millwall vs Stevenage EFL Cup– Match Preview August 8, 2017

EFL Cup Match Preview

This Tuesday, August 8, 2017 (11:45 AM Pacific) Millwall will host Stevenage at The Den for a match in the first round of the EFL Cup. Millwall is the clear favorite heading into the encounter but the game has the potential to be a hard-fought encounter.

Millwall had an absence from the Championship last season but is now back in the second tier of English football after finishing sixth in League One and achieving promotion through the playoffs.

Neil Harris was very active this summer making several signings some of the more notable names that were added to the London-based club include Ryan Tunnicliffe from Fulham Jed Wallace as a permanent signing from Wolves. The Lions will look to remain in the Championship this season and give solid performances in the cup competitions throughout the campaign.

Millwall should win this game especially playing at The Den but some of the lower-tier sides can cause problems in these cup competitions.

Stevenage had a regular 16-17 campaign, finishing tenth in League Two and is expected to be a decent mid-table team once again. The Boro’s offseason was very busy and some of the more notable signings included Ryan Loft and Connor Ogilvie from Tottenham and Kaylen Hinds from Arsenal. The trip to The Den should be a rigorous one for the League Two side an early exit in the EFL Cup is expected.
