According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Ligue 1 outfit Marseille are interested in the services of Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen, and a move is seriously being contemplated for the Spurs flop this summer.
The French side are well aware of his struggles since his £18million arrival from AZ Alkmaar last summer.
The Netherlands international scored once from open play in the Premier League last term.
Nevertheless, sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta believes a move away from the EPL could help the Dutch striker regain his footing.
While the prospects of shipping off a player who appears to be deadweight for some cash is appealing, that it is becoming increasingly unlikely Spurs recruit any striker this summer could hinder Janssen’s exit.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino needs all hands on deck next term as Tottenham challenge on four fronts, and a 2nd chance could also prove fruitful for a player who clearly doesn’t lack talents and potential.
The 23-year-old isn’t surplus to requirements right now, and a move to Marseille won’t likely happen. Unless, perhaps they are willing to table a bid Spurs can’t reject.
