Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has admitted that he made an error during his team’s opening match of the Championship season against Hull by not bringing on Christopher Samba earlier in the game.
Gabriel Agbonlahor opened the scoring for the Villains, but the Tigers managed to draw level in the second half.
Samba was utilized as a makeshift striker during the latter stages of the game as Bruce’s side pushed for a winner and did cause some problems for the Hull defence.
However the 33-year-old Samba’s limited amount of time on the pitch may have prevented him from scoring the key winner.
Bruce has admitted that he made an error by not bringing on the former QPR and Blackburn Rovers man earlier and said, “The change certainly brought a lively response.
“Maybe I should have put him on a bit earlier with those crosses coming in. It’s something for us to consider and work on.”
