Reliable journalist Stephan Barry has claimed that John Terry’s controversial race-row cost him a punditry role with BT Sport.

In 2012, Terry was accused of using racial slurs towards QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.  The incident resulted in the Chelsea legend being banned for four matches, having to pay a £220,000 fine and being stripped off the England captaincy.

According to Barry, BT Sport considered hiring in a punditry role. However they decided not to after questions were raised over whether Terry would be able to work together with Rio Ferdinand, who is the brother of Anton.

Rio Ferdinand was also left out of the England national team that played in Euro 2012 and some speculate that the then Manchester United hero Ferdinand was left out of the squad to avoid a conflict with Terry.

Regardless of whether Terry in indeed racist or not, the row has definitely damaged his reputation n the eyes of many.
