The Sun has reported that Leicester City wideman Demarai Gray is set to stay at the club despite rumours of a move away.
As a result, this isn’t good news for Tottenham who had plans to make a swoop on the 21-year-old in the eventuality of an exit.
Alongside Everton and Liverpool, Spurs were alerted to Gray’s unwillingness to continue at the King Power Stadium due to lack of regular time.
Since arriving from Birmingham last January, the England under-21 winger has largely been a fringe player with the Foxes, starting just 13 games of his total 39 appearances last term.
Gray’s agents met with the club over their client’s desire to leave if he’s unable to be guaranteed sizeable playing minutes this coming season.
However, Foxes manager Craig Shakespeare claims he has spoken with the player about trying to give him more game-time, and that has quelled any exit plans.
Spurs were disappointed with their last summer wing signings, with the duo of Mousa Sissoko and Georges-Kévin Nkoudou utterly failing to impress.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino, despite not in any rush to add a player to his squad wouldn’t have minded having Gray as another frequent Heung-min Son-like option off the bench.
Considering their unusual quietness in the market, though, it remains to be seen if Spurs will be signing any attacker this summer.
