Tottenham reportedly edge closer to sealing first summer transfer

As per The Sun, Tottenham are finally set to get a first summer deal over the line as boss Maurichio Pochettino wants to add Southampton’s goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga to his goalkeeping ranks.

The 25-year-old caught the eyes of his fellow Argentine whilst he was managing the south Coast club, and a £2million deal to bring Gazzaniga is said to be in the pipeline.

Pochettino believes the former League Two shotstopper would be a great backup and future competition to undisputed first-choice Hugo Lloris.

Gazzaniga arrived the Saint Mary’s from Gillingham back in 2012, but only made 21 EPL appearances over the next 4 campaigns before heading on a season-long loan to Spanish Segunda División side Rayo Vallecano last term.

He made 22 league appearances for the side and is now back with the Saints. With 2 years left on his contract, Southampton are expected to listen to offers, and the Argentine should prove to be a quality understudy to Lloris.

With Pau Lopez gone following the expiration of his loan term, Gazzaniga would hope to beat Michel Vorm to the 2nd-choice berth if he is signed on.
