West Ham assistant sings praises of new signing

West Ham assistant boss Nikola Jurcevic has revealed that he feels that the new signing Javier Hernandez can offer something different to the club as could be seen during his cameo for the East London side during their 3-3 pre-season draw against German club Altona 93.

Jurcevic said of the 29-year-old Hernandez following his promising debut, “He was a plus point from this game. He spent a few days with us and played about 20 minutes which was very important for him to feel how he will play with West Ham United.

“In this moment he is not 100 per cent physically fit but he is working hard and for him it was very important to play 20 minutes last night.

“He showed in that short time that he is a very different offensive player. He likes to have the ball in space, he is always on the offside line and he will be an important player for us.”

As a result, of participating in the Confederations Cup this summer, Hernandez started pre-season training with the club later than his team-mates.

The Mexican international is a proven goal scorer at the highest level having won the Premier League twice during his spell with Manchester United. He also managed 39 goals from 76 appearances for previous club Bayer Leverkusen.
