Tottenham have announced via their official twitter handle that Anton Walkes has agreed to extend his current loan term with Atlanta United until the end of the MLS season.
The 20-year-old Englishman sealed a temporary move to link up with the Georgia-based club in January ahead of the 2017 season which ends in October.
The Five Stripes are a member of the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer, and are currently 5th on the log following 21 games in their first ever American topflight campaign.
Walkes, who last appeared for Spurs in his debut in an EFL Cup game against Gillingham last September has so far played 10 times in all competitions for Atlanta, and will hope to continue turning out his best having started the club’s last five league matches.
Upon the completion of his loan term, Walkes will likely return to Spurs before a potential loan move to an English division side.
The MLS is without a doubt getting better by the season, and the experience youngsters like Walkes amass playing with and against some legends of the football game will make them better players going forward.
It is widely hoped he returns to challenge for a spot in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s first team soon.
