Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has said that Tottenham will be contenders for the Premier League title next season, this coming despite his manager Antonio Conte questioning the ambitions of the North London side.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino recently criticized his fellow Premier League managers for the hefty spending which has been taking place this summer. In response to this, Conte questioned the ambitions of Pochettino’s Spurs side.
Alonso however believes that Spurs will be one of the main contenders for the title during the upcoming season as his team will look to defend their crown.
He said, “This year, we have to consider both teams from Manchester, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal. There are so many good teams with good players and we’ll have to work hard to win the title again.”
Judging by what has been happening thus far this summer, we are certainly headed for an interesting season which could be filled with a lot of surprises.
