Tottenham Hotspur reportedly interested in 20-year-old South American wonderkid

As silence continues to loom over Tottenham’s transfer window activities, reports from Bleacher Report indicate that they could make a signing afterall.

As per the reports, Inter Milan forward Gabriel Barbosa has been linked with a possible loan move to the north London club.

This could be perfect shrewd business for Spurs after spending a fortune recruiting last summer, only to be left disappointed by the poor performances of Vincent Janssen, Mousa Sissoko and Georges-Kévin Nkoudou.

Having spent €29.5million in acquiring Barbosa’s services from Santos last summer, Inter aren’t willing to let such huge investment on him go down the drain, but are ready to sanction a temporary exit instead.

Spurs have been over-dependent on Harry Kane’s goals and services in recent seasons, but Barbosa could help ease that burden if landed.

That, though, wouldn’t be easy considering West Ham, Everton, Liverpool and 4 other Premier League clubs are in the running for his signature.

A measly return of a solitary goal in 10 games for Inter last term doesn’t particularly look good on the reputation of the Brazil international.

Nonetheless, 24 goals and 12 assists in 83 appearances for Santos are testament to his true striking powers. And they could get rediscovered under a youth-loving manager and mentor like Mauricio Pochettino.
