An ex-coach in Southampton’s youth academy has been charged with a serious indictment.
Robert Bob Higgins has been accused of abusing children under the age of 17.
He has recently appeared at Southampton Magistrate’s Court, and according to BBC, there are 65 counts of indecent behavior towards 23 boys. This charge was believed to have occurred over the span of 26 years, since 1970 until 1996.
The 64-year-old Higgins has stated that he would not plead guilty to the counts. The next hearing is on 16th of August, and the suspect is on unconditional bail, while he waits.
Higgins had been a coach at Southampton youth academy during the 80’s. He also led Peterborough United youth team between May of 1995 and April 1996. The accused owned football school for a while.
During the last year, Higgins was working with Fleet Town, and at that time, the investigation about his alleged crimes had started.
