Former Tottenham star Teddy Sheringham has said that the future of Harry Kane at the Lillywhites will depend on whether the club manages to win major silverware.
The 23-year-old Kane has established himself as arguably one of the most lethal forwards in World football after scoring 29 goals in the Premier League last season and winning the Premier League golden boot award for the past two seasons.
Kane is a product of the Spurs youth development system and has indicated that he wishes to remain at the club for a long time, however his dedication could be tested should the North London club fail to win trophies.
Sheringham famously left the North London club in 1997 in order to win trophies with Manchester United and during his time with the Red Devils he managed to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League before returning to White Heart Lane in 2001.
Sheringham now believes that Kane could do the same, saying, “Pochettino’s still building and understanding the English way and he’s still moving forward, but they have to win trophies and if not then the big players will be wanting to go elsewhere.”
