Victor Anichebe has become the latest player to join a Chinese club following his release from Sunderland at the end of this past season.
The 29-year-old Anichebe has joined Beijing Enterprises linking up for former Newcastle United star Chieck Tiote’s final club.
The Nigerian international was signed by Sunderland last summer and was one of the better players for the club, who had a disastrous season. However injury setbacks were what ended up preventing him on a regular basis.
During this past season, Anichebe bagged three goals and was used as a part winger, part centre forward providing support for Jermain Defoe. Due to his injury problems, Anichebe was not offered a new contract at the Stadium of Light following the club’s relegation.
GaoHongbo, coach of the Beijing club confirmed the signing saying, “We are delighted with the signing of Victor, who played in the Premier League. It’s a positive development for our whole club.”
