According to the Mirror, Kevin Wimmer has popped up on Southampton’s radar, and they are keen on signing the Austrian defender.
However, the price set by the Spurs is £20 million, and according to various sources – Southampton are not willing to splash so much cash on a player who made only a handful of starts in the Premier League.
At the same time, they are desperately in need of reinforcements in their back line, since their long-time captain Jose Fonte left in January. Additionally, Virgil Van Dijk seems to be on his way out of the club, and after his saga with Liverpool ended in media catastrophe, it seems that Chelsea and City are locked in a battle to sign the £70-million defender.
Tottenham would be happy to offload the 24-year-old Austrian defender, who joined them from Cologne in 2015. During his stay at White Hart Lane, Wimmer failed to find his place and never really adjusted to the Premier League football.
