In an interview given to Yahoo Sports UK, John Terry, who is on Villa’s radar, said that he will not rush his decision and that he awaits the right offer.
Terry, a living legend, will become a free agent on July 1, and a number of clubs have shown an interest in his services. His 22 years at Chelsea have been filled with trophies and accolades, but at 36 years of age – Terry will probably move down a division.
Brighton Hove & Albion and Bournemouth are among the clubs competing for the defender, but offers from China and MLS are reportedly on the table as well.
However, John Terry is currently spending time in Portugal, relaxing with his family. He recently played a game of golf with Steve Bruce, Aston Villa manager, which sparked the speculation of Terry’s imminent arrival at the club.
Speaking about his future, Terry said: “I’m enjoying Portugal, spending time with the family and just switching off really from the summer and everything.
“But you never say never. I’m still training every day and I’m in the gym every evening. I’m on the football pitch in Portugal or running on the roads just keeping myself fit in case anything comes up that interests me.”
