Bournemouth defender Adam Smith has admitted that he would love to be reunited with former team-mate Jermain Defoe.

After Sunderland were relegated from the Premier League during the weekend, the 34-year-old will be expected to find a new club during the summer as he looks to continue his stay in the Premier League.

Smith said, “Hopefully, he will come here next season. He is constantly on your shoulder and really annoying to play against.”

Defoe and Smith previously played together for Tottenham. Bournemouth are keen to the veteran striker who has proven that he can still compete at the highest level by notching 14 Premier League goals this season.

Due to his vast experience and reputation, there is no doubt that a lot of mid-table teams will be interested in Defoe.

Bournemouth would be a good choice for him given that there is a good chance that they will give him regular game time, which will give him a chance of making the England squad for the 2018 World Cup.
