Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has revealed what was discussed during the talk with members of his team after their defeat to KAA Gent on Thursday evening, which resulted in the North London side being eliminated from the Europa League.
The Premier League team drew 2-2 with the Gent at the Wembly Stadium and the result saw Spurs being eliminated from the competition 3-2 on aggregate.
“If you are not qualifying then it is not a blessing in disguise,” Alderweireld told The Mirror. “Of course not. We are disappointed. A club like Tottenham has to go through.
“We have to fight for every game and that is what we said after the game. We still have the FA Cup and the league to fight for so we will do everything to fight for them.”
Tottenham will definitely be disappointed with their performance. Most would have surely expected them to win considering that on paper, they are a much better team than Gent but it was simply not meant to be.
