West Ham star glad for this reason after Manchester City mauling

West Ham United star Michail Antonio has told the London Evening Standard that he is glad that his team will not have to play Manchester City again after their 4-0 demolition at the hands of them on Wednesday.

The winger said, “It’s definitely hard to take but you just have to give it to them; they’re a quality team and they showed today that they’re lethal on the counter attack. Luckily we don’t have to play them again this season!”

City ran riot and won comfortably through goals from Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva, Gabriel Jesus, who made his first start, and Yaya Toure.

It was a sloppy performance from West Ham, who suffered the ignominy of being destroyed by Manchester City twice in recent weeks after they also eliminated them from the FA Cup after a 5-0 victory at the London Stadium.

Antonio is confident that his team will manage to put their latest setback behind them and focus on rebuilding ahead of their match against Southampton on Saturday. West Ham’s low confidence at the moment showed against City, who were far superior on the day.

They have a good opportunity to regain confidence against Southampton on Saturday as they are also not on the best of form.
