In a unique match between two of the most signigicant teams in Latin America, Chivas of Guadalajara will host Boca Juniors this Thursday, February 2, 2017 (6:30 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Chivas in Guadalajara. This friendly match is being promoted as a game between ‘giants’ considering the rich history both teams have had in their respective countries.
Chivas and Boca Juniors organized this friendly due to the ‘rebaño sagrado’s’ exit from the Copa Libertadores late last year. The team coached by Matias Almeyda wil gain a great opportunity to face possibily South America’s most popular team. This will set a parameter to see where the team stands in the international field as they have not competed in an international competition in years. It is also interesting to note that the last time these two teams faced each other in Mexico, it was in 2005 in that memorable game when Chivas won by a 4-0 margin.
Boca Juniors is currently in the offseason and has not played a competitive match since December 18 when they defeated Colon de Santa Fe 4-1. The team coached by Guillermo Barros Schelotto will use this match as a final practice prior to their first league match this Sunday against Banfield.
