Despite lots of rumors and reports to the contrary, Sky Sports sources are reporting that Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon is still a target to Chelsea. It is thought that Asmir Begovic, the current Chelsea back up is about to leave the club in favor of a move to Bournemouth.
Gordon is a veteran of the Barclay’s Premier League, having featured at Sunderland for a number of seasons before moving north of the border. Celtic are hopeful, or were hopeful, tying down the Scottish international to a new contract.
But that doesn’t look likely at this point as the appeal of London and football with the league-leading Chelsea is likely too much. Celtic should get as much money as possible from this and then reinvest it.
A new, young goalkeeper could be Celtic’s number one for a decade to come if they can find the right man. With Rodgers’ talent to develop players, it would be a very wise thing to do with the money as they are by far the best side in Scotland at the moment.
