Southampton come off of a huge victory over Liverpool in both legs of their EFL Cup tie. They will be hoping to make another deep cup run by defeating Arsenal in the FA Cup this weekend.
The Saints will have to be worried about both physical and mental fatigue after a stressful tie at Anfield. But, with league safety surely wrapped up, they should be able to take on Arsenal with whatever squad they want to use. They might be catching Arsenal at a good time as Arsene Wenger has been in trouble and they’ve only barely eked out victory over Burnley last weekend.
Southampton are likely to continue to play deep and look to counter quickly. The weapon of Shane Long should be becoming much more obvious to Claude Puel, and maybe he will start to see that he doesn’t need another striker. Long could do a lot of damage against a Gunners side with little protection in front of its center backs.
