Report: Tottenham lining up a move for Jan Vertonghen’s replacement

Tottenham are reportedly weighing up signing Andrea Ranocchia as they seek cover for Jan Vertonghen, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Inter Milan defender is attracting the interest of many Premier League clubs and may be allowed to leave on loan before the end of the month.

Mauricio Pochettino is considering bringing in defensive cover after first choice central defender Vertonghen damaged his ankle during Tottenham’s win over West Bromwich Albion on January 14.

Toby Alderweireld also limped off win a hamstring problem during the draw against Manchester City during the weekend which is not believed to be serious.

West Ham and Hull City are also said to be monitoring the 28-year-old and it was reported that his agent travelled to London last weeks for talks.

The player is said to be hoping for a loan agreement before the end of the transfer window and according to Calciomercato a loan will happen on condition of a mandatory buy-out clause at the end of the season.
