Young Chelsea goalkeeper Nathan Baxter has joined Solihull Motors from The National League on loan until the end of the season. The 18-year-old has risen through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge and enjoyed success, winning the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth league medals.
He spent the first half of the season at Ryman Premier side Met Police and will now move two divisions higher to play with Solihull Motors until May 14.
“It’s a big boost for the football club to bring in such a young talent from Chelsea for the second-half of the season,” said Moors boss Liam McDonald (via Solihull Observer).
“With Nathan Vaughan injured at this moment in time, we’ve been a short in that area so Nathan’s addition is much needed and we’re delighted to have him at The Moors.
“Coming from a club of Chelsea’s calibre, Nathan’s ability is undoubted and I personally look forward to playing a part in the player’s on-going development alongside our goalkeeping coach Darren Acton.”
The young Chelsea keeper has been at the club since he was eight years old, and he has steadily risen through the ranks. Although he is still many years away from featuring with Chelsea, it is promising to see the 18-year-old move up and play at the fifth level of English football already, instead of staying with the youth squads. Having just signed his first professional contract at the beginning of this season, we shall see how far the young Baxter will go in his career.
