Southampton manager Claude Puel, in the midst of a four game losing streak in the Premier League, has taken the time to urge his fans to concentrate on what the team has rather than transfers.
This is what Puel said: “We will see this. We work with the chairman. We will see this with calm. If an opportunity to improve the squad we will see. For me, for the moment, it is important to keep my concentration about this team and to pass other things.”
Much is up in the air currently at St Mary’s, as many players are said to be coming and going, and no one quite knows what to believe. There’s not been a feeling like this at the club for some time now.
Since arriving in the Premier League, they’ve been quite solid and never seemed to have the sort of issues that they are having now. These issues, even if they persist, are unlikely to relegate them.
However, they may end up costing Puel his job, as he seems as if he has lost control of the ship in a very big way. Puel is trying his best here to get the fans to worry about the side, but it’s quite the uphill battle.
Saints fans have seen their best players leave continually season after season, and now they are worried that they will lose both of their star center backs at once. They’re also concerned with the lack of goals. Expect this to continue until the Saints figure out a way to fix things. It may get much worse- and uglier- before it gets better.
