Chelsea reportedly prepare record breaking deal for striker to replace Diego Costa

Germany Muller

Express Sport have reported that Chelsea are eyeing German star Thomas Mueller as a possible replacement for unsettled Diego Costa.

Costa, 28, reportedly wants away from Stamford Bridge after receiving a £30 million a year deal from Chinese Super League club, Tianjin Quanjian, who are also willing to pay £80 million for the striker.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reportedly lined up a £75 million bid should Costa choose to leave. Costa was dropped from the Chelsea squad that beat Leicester this weekend after a war of words with Conte as well as members of Chelsea’s fitness staff during training this week.

It remains to be seen whether the sale of Costa will go ahead during this month’s transfer window but he is reportedly keen to assist Chelsea in winning the Premier League title. Nevertheless Chelsea do have a back-up plan should Costa choose to leave and that is to sign Mueller from Bayern.
