Premier League Tottenham have reportedly expressed an interest in Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Gaitan. London Evening Standard claims that the North London club have approached the Madrid-based club regarding the availability of the Argentina international.
Earlier, the Mirror had also confirmed on their transfer news blog that the North London club are interested in the player.
The 28-year-old, who signed for Atletico in a €25 million deal from Benfica in the summer, has failed to cement his place in Diego Simeone’s starting eleven following his move and has managed only nine league appearances.
However, the report also made it very clear that Simeone considers his compatriot as an important member of his squad and is not keen on selling him this month. The Atletico manager has conveyed the same to the club’s board.
Gaitan was also strongly linked with a move to Man Utd on multiple occasions, but a move never materialized, and he ended up joining Atletico in the summer.
