Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho is a player that is on Antonio Conte’s wish list, according to the Daily Mirror.

The £30 million-rated midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from his home country of Portugal with Chelsea and Everton both vying for his signature.

Chelsea are reportedly looking for another midfield enforcer after losing out on the chase of Radja Nainggolan and with Nemanja Matic’s future uncertain, Carvalho would be the missing piece.

The 24-year-old has been with Sporting since 2011 and since then has established himself as one of the premier young defensive midfielders in the league.

Known for his strength and being a defensive rock, Carvalho would chip in with three goals in his 35 total appearances with Sporting last season across all competitions.

Carvalho has gone on to establish himself on the world stage by being selected as the Player of the tournament in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2015 and most recently winning the European Championship with Portugal in France.

He’d be an excellent signing for Chelsea and would certainly suit Conte’s 3-5-2 system, where he would be apart of a two-man defensive midfield with someone like Matic or new signing N’Golo Kante.

Without question Carvalho is built to thrive in the Premier league and it seems it is only a matter of time before he showcases his talents for an English club.
