Chelsea are yet to sign a world class defensive player that will fix their defensive set up. One of the players who is being pursued by Chelsea since quite some time is Kalidou Kaulibaly. The 25-year-old Senegal defender could cost Chelsea £34 million, per reports from The Telegraph. The favourable thing for Chelsea in the deal is that their bid is structured in such a way that Napoli will get £31.5 million, plus bonuses of worth £2.5 million.
The defender impressed with Napoli last season and has caught the eyes of many bidders. He played 33 games in the Serie A for Napoli last season, a run that has been a reward for his consistency. He is a brilliant passer of the ball and averages 85.9% passing accuracy.
His 6ft 5in physicality gives him an edge over other players and he is not afraid to dive into tackles. Also, his long balls from the back for clever runs by forwards will help Chelsea in dealing with high pressure.
For Chelsea, Kalidou will be a decent signing. Despite John Terry penning down a new contract extension with the Blues, Conte will be keen on having a replacement for Terry, as his consistency is doubtful, keeping in mind his age. Also, Chelsea are in need of players who work tirelessly for 90 minutes, something that has been noticed in all the teams which Conte has managed.
