After having a disappointing season at Stamford Bridge, Nemanja Matic could possibly be on his way to Turin, as The Mirror suggests Juventus is planning a £17 million swoop for the 27-year-old Serbian.
Nemanja Matic was one of the most important players for Jose Mourinho in his title winning season 2 years back. But he was nowhere near to the class he had shown in that season, consequently having a lack of playing time and inconsistent performances.
The Serbian played for a total of 2,421 minutes and managed 2 goals and 2 assists last season.
As known before, Conte is doing the dirty job of revamping the Chelsea squad. To be fair, Matic has no place in Conte’s 3-5-2, unless he and Conte agree to play in a changed central role, which would make him a holding midfielder contributing to defense as well, with an extensive work-rate.
His presence will however bolster the defensive trio. Whereas Juventus will be keen on having him, as uncertainties hover over Paul Pogba’s transfer.
