Tottenham Hotspur are close to landing the services of Marseille centre back Nicolas N’Koulou, according to HITC.
Spurs are looking to add to their squad as they make a push for the Premier League Title this season.
N’Koulou’s contract ends in the summer and Marseille don’t want to lose him while getting nothing in return. Captain and Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda said earlier that he will be leaving on a free transfer in the summer. For Marseille to potentially lose both of them without getting anything in return would be devastating.
The Lilywhites bid for £5.2 million for N’Koulou has been accepted by Marseille. According to Calciomercato, the 25-year-old defender has also okayed the switch.

The arrival of N’Koulou should almost guarantee the departure of centre back Federico Fazio from White Hart Lane this January. The Argentine has struggled to find his form since arriving. According to reports, his former club Sevilla are the favourites to land him.
Spurs’ Jan Vertoghen and Toby Alderweireld have arguably been the best centre back pairing in the Premier League this season so don’t expect for N’Koulou to immediately break into the first team. The signing of the Cameroonian international however does add great depth to an already solid Spurs’ defense.
