Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has come out and expressed his admiration for under-fire forward, Radamel Falcao. The Colombian striker started his first game for the Blues since arriving on loan from AS Monaco against Walsall in the Third Round of the Capital One Cup.
Chelsea ran out comfortable 4-1 winners with Ramiers, Loic Remy, Kennedy and Pedro getting the goals for the Premier League giants. Falcao however, failed to make a mark on the match despite being handed the entire match to do so.
The British media has heavily criticized the former Atletico Madrid hitman, who was renowned for his awesome finishing. Mourinho however, has come forward and expressed his opinions about the forward by saying:
“It was a good game for Falcao, a good 90 minutes – important for fitness. He worked a lot, ran a lot, moved a lot. He was in the game a lot. For the first time this season he was on the pitch for a long, long time so it was a good game for him.”
Radamel Falcao has come a long way from being one of the most feared forwards on the planet. It’s pretty hard for one to imagine that Monaco actually splashed close to 60 million Euros for a player who is now being thrown around on loan like a piece of dirty laundry that no one wants to claim.
Jose Mourinho however, has publicly backed his player, which is always a great thing to do. Whether or not Falcao can return his boss the favour by scoring goals, is something that only time can tell.
