Transfer Rumour: Chelsea to give up 5 Players to Acquire English Starlet

According to The Metro, Jose Mourinho is willing to sell five members of his squad in order to generate enough funds to buy Liverpool starlet, Raheem Sterling.

According to the source, Chelsea would let Petr Cech go in search of first-team football, while also letting a legend in Didier Drogba leave the club for the second time. Mourinho would also allow Juan Cuadrado and Felipe Luis to leave Stamford Bridge as they have struggled to find consistent playing time for the champions.

But obviously the biggest loss would be allowing Brazilian youngster Oscar leave the club. Although Oscar has been in and out of the side throughout the season, he is a top talent when he is on his game and playing in that No. 10 role behind the striker.

Even though Chelsea are set to receive their Premier League trophy on Sunday to confirm a fantastic season, Mourinho is set to make some moves to make the squad better to improve upon their disappointing campaign in Europe.

Raheem Sterling has made it clear that he is unwilling to sign a contract extension at Anfield and is looking to move. Sterling, who is still only 20, has shown signs of being a superstar and apparently is ready to move to a club who can offer him Champions League football.

Plenty of clubs are interested in the young winger and this summer saga could last for a long time. Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, and even Chelsea would love to sign Sterlng.

Although Chelsea ran away with the title in England, they still need to bring in some attacking quality in the wide areas. Oscar was disappointing on numerous occasions this season and Sterling could play in a wider area in a front three with Eden Hazard and Willian.

Sterling brings great pace and has the ability to take defenders on one on one which is something the Blues could use. I have seen Sterling play many times and his qualities would fit in perfectly with the champions as they look to defend their crown.

At the moment, I do not see Chelsea as the favorites to lure Sterling to Stamford Bridge but anything is possible, especially in the world of transfers. I think Manchester City are favorites as they are set to make massive changes at the club and could use a talented Englishman in their side like Sterling.

I see Sterling being sold this summer as Liverpool need to cash in for their young superstar and rebuild from scratch.

The Metro is not a very reliable source, so this transfer does not look like it is imminent just yet. If Chelsea are able to acquire Sterling, I think it makes the champions better already.
