Barcelona Confirms Talks With Both Marco Veratti and Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba

Reports of Xavi Hernández’s replacement for the next couple of seasons are underway according to reliable staff members within the Camp Nou. It is no surprise FC Barcelona are looking for a permanent replacement to fill the void the Catalan Captain will leave behind, but an inside interview with Ariedo Braida, Barcelona’s Sporting Directorhas admitted to “held talks” with Juventus General Director Giuseppe Marotta over a potential move for Paul Pogba. Braida is quoted stating:

“He is still young, but already shows things of the highest level. It would be a hugely important operation for Barcelona, a very interesting one.

“Our situation is complicated, though. We can not register any new players until 2016 because of the Fifa sanction.”

Another source, Barcastuff; Barcelona’s unofficial transfer twitter page that has been spot on for transfers, cites that “Agent of Juventus player Paul Pogba (22) was in Barcelona for talks this week. Pogba wants to join. Barcelona offered Juventus 70M.” If this deal is to pull through it would be a blow for other top clubs whom have also shown great interest in the Frenchman.

On a related topic, Barcelona are still interested in Marco Verratti but there is a catch. Barcastuff is reporting “Barcelona have sounded out PSG about Marco Verratti (22). Barcelona would be willing to pay at least 50M but player not for sale.” According to Verratti’s agent the player is very happy and feels at home and is keen to stay at home. Marco Verratti has been on Barcelona’s radar this season along with a handful of other players. Many speculate an extraordinary transfer fee will be the decisive factor for the sale of the player.

In other news, FC Barcelona will face European giants Bayern Munich, this Wednesday night at the Allianz Arena after having been recently defeated at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen. A clash with a rich history and rivalry to decide who will move on to the Champions League Final on this two leg confrontation . Their last encounter during the 2012/2013 season resulted in a 7-0 thrashing against Barcelona, and before that during the 2008/2009 season a 5-1 pouncing on Bayern Munich. It will definitely be the game to watch as Pep faces his old club. Real Madrid on the other hand will face Juventus F.C away from home. It will be an exciting week as some of the most decorated clubs in football duke it out.
