Manchester United certainly did not make the impact that many were expecting them to during the January transfer window and in the end, the Red Devils purchased only two players for nominal fees.
However, this does not mean that United were not busy during the window and they completed no less than five transfers on deadline day, with four players being shown the door. Here is our summary of the transfers United conducted last night –
Arrival
Andy Kellett
From – Bolton Wanderers
Fee – Loan
While Manchester United were linked with a host of world class players worth millions during the January transfer window, the signing which the Red Devils did complete on deadline day shock many as they recruited the services of little known Andy Kellett from Bolton Wanderers.
Kellett joins United on loan till the end of the season and the young man is expected to join the Red Devil’s Under-21 side. As part of the deal, Saidy Janko has moved to the other direction by signing for Bolton till the end of the season.
Departures

After years of sterling service to Manchester United, Darren Fletcher has finally ended his lifelong association with the Red Devils by joining Premier League side West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer during deadline day.
Fletcher signs for the Baggies on a two-and-a-half year deal and looks set to be crucial in their fight against relegation. Fletcher amassed more than 300 appearances for United but had found himself surplus to requirements at the club this season under Louis van Gaal.
Marnick Vermijl
To – Sheffield Wednesday
Fee – Undisclosed

Another player who has failed to break into the United first team is Marnick Vermijl and he has now duly been shown the door by the Red Devils as he joins Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
Vermijl signs for the Owls on a three-and-a-half year deal and the 23-year old will be hoping to kick start his stalling career at the Hillsborough Stadium.
Wilfried Zaha
To – Crystal Palace
Fee – £3million

Wilfried Zaha had earned a dream transfer to United back in 2013 but the move turned out to be a nightmare for the young man instead. Zaha was hardly awarded a look into the first team at Old Trafford and has now turned his loan spell at Crystal Palace to a permanent one.
Bought for £12million, Zaha has now been offloaded for just £3million and the winger leaves the club having made only 4 senior appearances.
Jesse Lingard
To – Derby County
Fee – Loan
DEADLINE DAY: #DCFC have signed @ManUtd‘s Jesse Lingard on loan until the end of the season http://t.co/IjVaYaf35F pic.twitter.com/GernOJ0AEr — Derby County (@dcfcofficial) February 2, 2015
Young Jesse Lingard is eventually expected to play regularly for United but he has his path in the first team blocked by a host of stars and as a result, the young man has joined Derby County in search of regular first team football.
Lingard joins Derby on a loan deal till the end of the season and the young midfielder will be hoping to lead the Rams’ promotion charge into the Premier League.
