The defending Liga MX champion came into Puebla looking to start off the season with a win, and it did just that. Playing a typical Xolos-type game: strong defense, counterattacks, and scoring from set pieces, Tijuana defeated a feisty Puebla 2-1. Puebla was down 2-0 but fought the entire game to try and tie the game, and were very close on several occasions, unfortunately, they fell short at 2-1. Next week, Xolos will face Leon in a rematch of last season’s exciting semifinal match, should be a fun one.
