Tottenham reportedly identify long-term Dembele successor in £33million-rated Serie A powerhouse

As per Italian publication Calcio Napoli 24, Tottenham are keen on landing Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara as they prepare for life without the 30-year-old Mousa Dembélé.

The Belgium international has been far from his scintillating best this term, struggling for form and fitness, and Spurs see the £33million-rated Diawara, 20, as the perfect long-term replacement.

No senior team additions are expected at the north London club this January, while Napoli’s mission to finally end Juventus’ monopoly of the Serie A title means the Guinean youngster won’t be moving this winter.

Diawara is a strong box-to-box midfielder as they come, with his pace, interception and passing abilities always coming to the fore whenever he is on the pitch.

The former Bologna youngster has what it takes to hit the ground running in the topflight, but it remains to be seen if Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri will let such a gem leave while in charge.

Goals are currently missing in Diawara’s game, but it’s a shortcoming that can be rectified under Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

It’s the 2nd time the Londoners are coming after the very promising powerhouse, and finally landing him come summer would be good business.
