The UdeG Leones Negros vs Necaxa Ascenso MX Final first leg match will take place this Wednesday, November 27, 2013 (6:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara. Both teams will give it their all to fight for the Ascenso MX Apertura 2013 title, and the half-ticket it awards to the Liga MX; the winner of this season will go on to face the winner of next season for a spot in the Liga MX, Mexico’s top division.

The Leones Negros (#5 seed) made it to the final after upsetting Oaxaca, the #1 seed, in the semifinals; UdeG defeated Oaxaca by an aggregate score of 3-2. Now, the historic club will attempt to get closer to returning to the Liga MX, where it last played in 1994.

However, the Leones Negros will have a very tough rival in front of them, a Necaxa squad that has consistently made the Ascenso MX playoffs since it was relegated in 2011. The Aguascalientes based team has had a pretty successful season, ending the regular season in second place, winning its quarterfinal series against San Luis by an aggregate score of 4-0, and cruising past Delfines del Carmen with an aggregate score of 7-0 in the semifinals. Necaxa is definitely the favorite to win the Final series against Leones Negros.

Necaxa also has the advantage of finishing off the series at home, giving it the opportunity to play a compact and defensive game at the Estadio Jalisco, and look for the win back in Aguascalientes. Nonetheless, Necaxa has been known for choking on big occasions, last season, Necaxa lost the Ascenso MX final against a Neza squad that was considered to be much weaker.

Leones Negros vs Necaxa Prediction

Given the current form of both teams, this final series should be expected to be quite tight. Necaxa is still a slight favorite though, given their experience in previous playoffs, and overall better roster. Look for Leones Negros to play a moderately offensive formation, as the team knows that it must obtain a victory if it wants a decent shot at winning the title. Necaxa will play a counterattacking formation, which proved to be very effective in the quarterfinals and semifinals. The Leones Negros vs Necaxa match will end in a 1-1 draw, everything will be defined in Aguascalientes.
