The America vs Sporting San Miguelito CONCACAF Champions League match will be held this Wednesday, August 7, 2013 (7:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama.  Club America is one of the favorites to win this edition of the Concachampions, and starting off with an away win over Sporting is important.

America and Sporting are part of Group 4, which they share with Alajuelense of Costa Rica. Only the team that finishes in first place will move on to the quarterfinals. Club America is a huge favorite to win the group, as they are the defending champions from the best league in the CONCACAF region, and the team in the competition with the most history and largest fan-base.

Coach Miguel Herrera has stated that winning the Concachampions is a priority of his. Nonetheless, Herrera has decided to use a completely alternate squad: Hugo González (GK), Mosquera, Valenzuela and Aldrete (defense), Layún and Carlos Gutiérrez (wingbacks); Molina, “Hobbit” and Martínez (midfield), and Rey and Andrade (forwards) (source: MedioTiempo).

This is still a very powerful team, which should be enough to defeat the modest roster of the Panamanian side. Going simply by the numbers, a draw should be more than enough for America, considering they are very likely to win both games at home. Realistically, anything other than a victory would be seen as a failure by the Azulcrema fans.
